Circus Act for Hire in Bangkok — Mall Atriums, Theme Parks and the Rainy Season
The Thai live-entertainment market is led by shopping malls — atriums, forecourts and festival routes. This page covers what an atrium can actually carry, why the water festivals are the flyboard window, and how a rain clause should be written.

The atrium economy
Bangkok programs entertainment where the footfall already is, which means shopping malls. The big centres run launch events, brand activations, seasonal shows and holiday programming all year, and a well-timed act with strong visual contrast will pull audiences across several floors.
The constraints are consistent across the category: clear height is modest, floor loading is finite, and the performance area is usually shared with retail traffic. Ground-level spectacle therefore outperforms anything that needs height, and a compact footprint with a fast reset is worth more than a large one.
Outdoor programming exists and is growing — forecourts, riverfront developments, park stages — but it is scheduled around the weather rather than the calendar.
The venue formats
| Mall atrium or event hall 商场中庭 / 活动厅 | The core Bangkok booking. Globe of Death and acrobatic sets, 20 to 35 minutes, several times a day. Everything is decided by clear height and floor loading. |
|---|---|
| Theme park 主题乐园 | Season-long recurring slots. A repeatable act with a quick reset is the right shape. Park stages rarely clear the height a wheel needs. |
| Exhibition and convention centre 会展中心 | Height and freight access. The indoor category that can take a rigged act, and the easiest load-in for large apparatus. |
| Riverfront and forecourt 河岸与户外广场 | Cool-season only. Waterfront sites suit the flyboard show; every outdoor booking needs its wet-weather position agreed in writing. |
The calendar: water festivals and the cool season
- Songkran, mid-April. The water festival is the signature national date, and it is when waterfront and water-based entertainment is most in demand. It is also the hottest part of the year, which makes water a feature rather than a problem.
- November to February — the cool season. The comfortable outdoor window, and the period when open-air events and festivals run.
- Lunar New Year, January or February. A strong window for Chinese-idiom programming in a market with a large Thai-Chinese audience.
- Loy Krathong, November. A major national date with evening programming on and around water.
- July to October — the rainy season. Not closed, but outdoor schedules need slack. Afternoon downpours are routine.
Rain clauses and local employment
Write the weather into the contract. In Thailand an outdoor date should carry an agreed wet-weather position: a covered alternative site, or a defined number of postponement days, or a partial fee on a forced cancellation. Leaving it open is the most common way a Thai outdoor booking turns into a dispute.
- Work permits. Foreign performers need the relevant permission to work in Thailand, and the application is made by the Thai host. This runs separately from the event permission granted by the venue or the local authority, and it needs lead time.
- Employment structure. The Thai side is the employer of record locally; we supply the personnel documentation the host needs to file.
- Equipment. Professional equipment travels under an ATA Carnet, and the kit list is checked against the shipment on entry.
What we need from your side
- The venue, its clear height and floor loading, and whether it is indoor or open-air.
- The date and the run length.
- For an outdoor site, the wet-weather position you can accept.
- Which Thai entity will be the local employer and file the work permission.
Send those and we will come back with a format recommendation and the technical file, free of charge and before any contract discussion.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have a resident show in Bangkok?
No. We do not hold a resident production in Thailand. Engagements are project-based: a season booking inside a mall or park, a festival date, or a corporate event.
Can a Wheel of Death play in a mall atrium?
Rarely. It needs 15 m of clear height over the wheel position plus rigging points for the support structure, and most atriums cannot provide that. The Globe of Death is the better atrium act.
Is the rainy season a write-off?
No, but it needs slack. Outdoor dates between July and October should carry an agreed wet-weather position: a covered alternative, defined postponement days, or an agreed position on a forced cancellation.
What is the strongest window for a water-based act?
The Songkran period in mid-April, when water is the theme of the national holiday and waterfront programming peaks.
How long does the process take?
Allow three months minimum. Work permission for the artists and equipment freight are the two items that set the timeline.
