What Circus Act Hire Costs — And What Actually Drives the Price
We do not publish a price list, and that is not evasion: the same act can cost several times more depending on the city, the venue and the date. This page breaks a quote into its parts so you can see where the budget actually goes.

Six variables decide the number
There is no standard rate for an international circus act, because almost every enquiry changes at least two of these:
- How many acts. One headline act, a two-act set, or the full programme of more than ten.
- Running time and show count. A single ten-minute performance and four shows a day are very different engagements.
- City, country and freight. Moving the rig, the props and the cast is usually the largest single line in a long-distance booking.
- Dates and season. Peak holiday and festival windows carry a premium; mid-week and shoulder dates do not.
- The venue. Clear height, floor load, power and rigging method decide how much technical time the load-in takes.
- Whether the big top is included. Our 1,000-seat tent turns a booking into a complete venue, with its own cost shape.
Three ways to buy, three cost shapes
- A single act, licensed into your show. The Wheel of Death (10–12 minutes) or the Globe of Death (8–10 minutes) dropped into a programme you already run. The lightest commitment and the simplest technical integration.
- A complete programme. Around 90 minutes, more than ten acts, our own cast and crew. Priced as one production rather than as a list of acts.
- A big-top engagement. The complete programme staged in our own 1,000-seat tent — venue, rigging, seating and show as a single package.
Cost does not scale linearly with running time. Adding acts inside one engagement is usually far cheaper per minute than adding days, because the freight and the crew travel are already paid for.
What a quote includes — and what it does not
Ask any supplier to state this explicitly. Our default split is below, and we will always put it in writing before a contract is discussed.
| Normally included 通常包含 | Cast and crew fees · rigging, props and costumes · the lighting and sound specification for the act · technical and safety documentation · performance liability and third-party liability insurance · the advance site survey. |
|---|---|
| Normally excluded 通常不含 | Freight and customs · flights, accommodation and per diems · visas and work permits · local labour required by venue or union rules · any structural work the building itself needs · local taxes and withholding. |
| Agreed case by case 逐案约定 | Rehearsal days, standby days, extra shows on the same date, and any filming or broadcast rights. |
Why we do not publish a price list
A published figure for an international act is almost always wrong for your case. Either it is a floor that makes every honest quote look like an increase, or it is a headline number built on assumptions your venue does not meet — and the gap surfaces after you have committed.
What we do instead: after a free site survey we send a written budget breakdown against your actual city, date, venue and format, with every assumption stated line by line so your finance team can read it and challenge it.
If you already have a number to hit, send us the budget alongside the date and the city. We will tell you plainly what fits inside it, and what we would programme instead if it does not.
What we need to quote accurately
| City and country 城市与国别 | Where the engagement happens, and whether more than one city is involved. |
|---|---|
| Dates and show count 日期与场次 | First and last date, and how many performances are planned. |
| Venue 场地 | Type, clear height, performance area, floor load and power supply — drawings or photographs if you have them. |
| Audience 观众 | Capacity and seating layout. |
| Format 形态 | Single act, two-act set, complete programme, or programme plus big top. |
| Indoor or outdoor 室内外 | And whether a wet-weather contingency has to be built into the plan. |
The site survey is free and comes before any contract. Send a floor plan or a few photographs and we will tell you what fits, what does not, and roughly what it takes to deliver it.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to hire a circus act?
There is no single figure. A quote is built from the number of acts, the running time and show count, the city and freight, the dates, the venue technical conditions, and whether the big top is included. Send those and we return a written budget breakdown with the assumptions stated.
Do you charge for the site survey?
No. The advance site check and the first budget are free of charge, and both come before any contract is discussed.
Is one act cheaper than the full programme?
Yes — a single act is the lightest commitment. But on a long-distance booking the freight and crew travel often dominate the total, so the gap between one act and a full programme is usually smaller than buyers expect.
What is normally not included in a price?
Freight and customs, flights, accommodation and per diems, visas and work permits, local labour required by venue rules, any structural work the building needs, and local taxes or withholding.
Can you work to a fixed budget?
Tell us the budget, the date and the city, and we will say plainly what fits inside it. Where a budget cannot carry the headline acts, we will propose what we would programme instead rather than stretch the number.
Why do other companies publish prices and you do not?
A published price is normally a domestic act in a domestic market, or a headline figure built on assumptions your venue may not meet. We quote against your actual conditions, so the number you take to finance is one you can hold.
