What a Flyboard Water Show Costs — And What Actually Drives the Number

The constraint on a flyboard show is not the equipment, it is the water: is the area large enough, is it deep enough, is there natural water at all. This page breaks a quote into its parts — how many units fly, the water and site conditions, day or night version, running time and show count — and sets out what is normally excluded.

Night flyboard water show with flame jets and a golden fountain

Six variables decide the number

Two flyboard shows of the same length can differ in cost several times over, because almost every enquiry changes at least two of these:

  • How many units fly at once. A solo rider, the signature synchronized duo, or a larger formation. It is the most visible variable, but it is rarely the largest one.
  • The water itself — the single biggest swing. A suitable natural water body costs nothing to provide. If there is none, the show runs on a temporary pool of 12 m or more, and that build becomes the largest line in the quote by a wide margin.
  • Day or night version. The daytime act is the light one — riders against a natural landscape. The night show layers flame jets, coloured smoke, laser arrays and musical fountains, and every one of those is extra equipment, extra crew and extra safety procedure.
  • Running time and show count. One fifteen-minute show, or the same show run nightly through a season, against the same positioning and crew travel cost.
  • City, logistics and the season window. Getting the units, the boats and the crew to the water, and the climate window at your dates — an outdoor water act has a shorter usable season in some markets than a theatre-based circus programme does.
  • Whether the choreography is off the shelf or built for you. A standard daytime duo and a custom sequence built around a destination identity or a brand launch are two different pieces of work.

Three ways to buy, three cost shapes

  • A standard sequence. An existing programme — the synchronized duo by day, the flaming-wings night show — staged to your water and your dates. The lightest commitment, and the fastest to deliver because the choreography already exists.
  • A custom sequence. Built around a destination identity, a festival theme or a brand launch, then rehearsed against your actual water before the opening. The work sits in the creative and rehearsal stage, not in the hardware.
  • A residency or a season. The same crew and equipment running repeatedly — nightly at a scenic park, a summer season at a resort, a multi-city tour. Cost per show falls sharply here, because positioning, crew travel and the pool build are paid once.

Cost does not scale linearly with the number of units. Adding a third rider inside one engagement is usually far cheaper per minute than adding a second city, because the positioning and the water works are already covered.

What a quote includes — and what it does not

Ask any supplier to state this explicitly. Our default split is below, and we will always put it in writing before a contract is discussed.

Flyboard units, jet skis and the boats · two operators per unit and the rescue crew · choreography and on-site rehearsal · night-show effects where booked — flame jets, coloured smoke, lasers and musical fountains · the rescue boat and lifeguard cover · operational insurance and on-site execution.
The water body, its use rights and any dredging or ground works · the temporary pool build where there is no natural water · shore power and pontoon or berthing works · audience stands, barriers and stewarding · security and traffic management · freight and customs for overseas engagements · local taxes and withholding · the cost of rescheduling after a weather cancellation.
Agreed case by case Rehearsal days on site, standby dates, a second show on the same evening, filming or broadcast rights, and integration with drones, fireworks or a fountain show.

Why we do not publish a price list

A published figure for a water show is almost always wrong for your case. The reason is structural rather than evasive: the same act costs very different amounts depending on whether you already have usable water, and that single fact can move the total more than any other variable on the page.

What we do instead: after a free water assessment we send a written budget breakdown against your actual site, dates and version, with every assumption stated line by line so your finance team can read it and challenge it.

If you already have a number to hit, send us the budget alongside the dates and the site. We will tell you plainly what fits inside it, and what we would programme instead if it does not.

What we need to quote accurately

Where the show runs. Inside and outside China differ on freight, crew travel and local permitting.
Dates and show count First and last date, and how many shows — a single show and a season are costed differently.
A natural body of water, or a temporary pool. Our minimums are a performance area of at least 40 m by 30 m, a depth of at least 1.5 m, and an audience line held at least 15 m back. Where there is no natural water, a temporary pool of 12 m or more can be built.
Day or night 日场还是夜场The daytime act against a natural landscape, or the night version with flame, smoke, lasers and fountains.
A berthing or launch point, and shore power at the site.
Expected audience size and whether stands, barriers and a 15 m separation can be enforced.

The water assessment is free and comes before any contract. Send a photograph of the water, the dimensions and the depth, plus your target dates, and we will tell you whether the show fits — and if it does not, what we would stage instead.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a flyboard water show cost?

There is no single figure. A quote is built from how many units fly at once, whether you have usable natural water or need a temporary pool, whether it is the daytime or night version, the running time and show count, the city and season, and how custom the choreography is. Send those and we return a written budget breakdown with the assumptions stated.

What makes the biggest difference to the price?

The water. A suitable natural water body costs nothing to provide; if there is none, a temporary pool of 12 m or more has to be built, and that build usually becomes the largest single line in the quote.

Is the night version more expensive?

Yes. The night show layers flame jets, coloured smoke, laser arrays and musical fountains on top of the flying, and each of those adds equipment, crew and safety procedure. The daytime act against a natural landscape is the lighter of the two.

How much water do we need?

Our minimums are a performance area of at least 40 m by 30 m, a depth of at least 1.5 m, and an audience line held at least 15 m back from the performance area. Where there is no natural water at all, a temporary pool of 12 m or more can be built.

What is normally not included in a price?

The water body and its use rights, the temporary pool build, shore power and berthing works, audience stands and barriers, security and traffic management, freight and customs for overseas work, local taxes and withholding, and the cost of rescheduling after a weather cancellation.

How far ahead should we start?

Three to six months before the target dates is the comfortable window, and longer for an overseas engagement or a temporary pool build. A water assessment can be done at any point from a photograph, the dimensions and the depth.
